Sternula provides detailed measurements of global radiation on VHF frequencies. The image to the right illustrates the data collected over two days with one satellite. The radiation noise levels are very high, especially in the areas north of the Faroe Islands and northeast of Greenland.
This data can be used to develop algorithms to detect minor or major changes in VHF radio radiation which can be helpful as an indicator for changes in activity in specific regions.
Sternula’s satellites are equipped with VHF radios. As they fly over a specific region, they collect and map the detected activity.
The monitoring service is customizable, allowing customers to choose the frequency at which measurements are taken. Data can then be delivered in either a detailed report or in a raw data format.
